Thanks for the RAC presentation. 

There is one more aspect to LMS/LGWR apart from high priority. Since you have shown examples specific to solaris (priocntl/psrset), you would also benefit from increasing the time-quanta to these processes (LGWR/LMS). FX class would be sufficient and not probably require to be changed to RT class. By changing time-quanta, you can eliminate involuntary context switches completely.

On Linux, changing the priority automatically increases the time-quanta available for a process.
